They govern how a character responds to dialog, and the lines they say. PersonalityAll characters in Kenshi have a personality, sometimes preset, sometimes random, but all have one.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the stats entry is named after the character, this allows you to tell which instance goes to which character. All the entries shown in this instance pertain to the same character, and can be opened by simply double clicking it them here, so can use this method to find the corresponding entries you want to edit when trying to edit a specific character. At which point you'll want to open an instance shown on the right by double clicking on it.
